The UMCG has awarded the construction of its Proton Therapy Centre to Visser & Smit Bouw. Visser & Smit Bouw earned the highest EMVI-score and came out top on the European invitation to tender. According to the UMCG Visser & Smit Bouw connects well with the vision that the UMCG has of the development and construction process. With the award of contract the UMCG is now ready to start preparing for the construction of its Proton Therapy Center.
The UMCG expects building work to commence in the spring of 2015 so that the first patients can be treated in 2017. The Proton Therapy Center is located on the UMCG grounds and is part of the UMC Groningen Cancer Center where oncology patients, both children and adults, are provided with all the very latest treatments.
