VIA commences with the monstermachine on the new outfitting phase of the North/South line

General

A new phase has begun for VIA in the North/South line, (VIA) the collaboration between Visser & Smit Bouw and Imtech Building Services. This week VIA commences construction of the concrete track plates in the Sixhaven direction of Noorderpark Station.

VIA 25-09-2013

The outfitting contract includes the renovation of 7 stations and the construction of 10 km of double track (including installations and security) for the North/South line. The first 2.5 km of double ballasted track and sidings are already visible in Amsterdam North and this week work begins on the tunnel. By using a monstermachine, also known as a paver, an even layer of concrete is layed by means of sliding formwork. The paver produces the concrete for the bore tunnel, track plates and cable trays. The rails are then laid on the finished surface.
