Alaska Building

Rijswijk

Alaska Building Rijswijk comprised the Design & Build of an office building and an underground car park.

The project

Visser & Smit Bouw was responsible for the foundations, the structural work, fit-out and the W-, E-and T-installations of the total building consisting of an office building and an underground car park. The 10 000sqm underground car park is built over two levels and contains 360 places. The office consists of eight floors and is about 30 000sqm GFA.

This is an environmentally friendly building with a climate facade. It is made with a sustainable 'tailor-made ' shell.

The construction site waslocated between existing buildings, waterwayand public road and is located in the immediate vicinity of a 4-lane railway line. The storage capacity on the construction site was very limited. Visser & Smit Bouw optimised the construction by adaptating the structural engineer's and architect's drawings.

Prefab elements were used for the following: columns, beams, stairs, landings and hollow core floors.

Construction:
The basement pit was in-situ concrete with four cores and hollow core floor with floated screed. The superstructure consists of precast columns/beams with four cores and a screeded hollow core floor.

Facade:
Climate facade, entrances and conservatories in a fully glazed facade construction.

Shell fit-out:
Installations, computer floors, cooling ceilings, suspended ceilings and finishing the cores.
