The project comprised of an underground gas storage facility, nine buildings and a series of pipeline foundations delivered by Visser & Smit Bouw.
The work consisted of the construction of office-, control-, cavern- and electrical buildings along with a workshop all made from conventional masonry and a traditional timber roof structure. The power regulating building is made of a steel structure with steel siding.
The other five buildings have a concrete structure. The Compressor building is built on strip footings. The pipeline foundations were created by our own workshop in Groningen. The project was carried out in a very short construction period.
Underground salt caverns at a depth of 1200m were used for the storage of gas under high pressure. These injection- and production facilities are very flexible in meeting the fluctuating demand/supply of gas.
