NAM Groningen Long Term project (GLT)

Groningen (various locations)

The project broadly included the renovation of all the gas fields (29) of the Slochterenveld.

The project

The Stork GLT consortium was responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of all 29 renovated gas fields.

The upgrading was necessary because the gas pressure in the fields had waned and by means of installing compressors this could be brought back to the desired level. The very latest technology was used, which will allow the fields to work optimally for at least another 25 years.

Within the consortium Visser & Smit Bouw was responsible for all the civil works.

Having formed a multidisciplinary consortium and alliance contract, where the client NAM uses the principle 'hands off, eyes on', it was essential that there was optimal cooperation between the parties. The consortium was also responsible for the design 'Construction driven' engineering has resulted in repeated optimizations being applied and also led to major cost savings. There was a lot of attention paid to safety and quality.

This project was taken over by GLT PLUS on 1st January 2010.

Main Contractor

Stork GLT is a consortium formed by Siemens DDH, Siemens, Yokogawa, Stork SISe/Visser & Smit Bouw and Jacobs Engineering. Visser & Smit Bouw became the nominated subcontractor with back-to-back accountability and full contractual obligation for her part.
