Design & Build of an office building including a two-storey underground car park for about 350 cars.
The parking spaces were made suitable for public use. The office building comprised 10 floors above ground. A total of 45 500sqm (car park: 10 500sqm/Office: 35 000sqm).
It was a complex logistical project in the center in Leiden. The office building is next to the railway station and the main Amsterdam-Leiden line and is 300m from the centre of Leiden. A public road runs under the building. For this reason, the building is supported at street level by twelve tree like structures, composed of a combination of steel and concrete. They are connected to the buildings lying behind at third floor level.
The superstructure is steel with hollow core floors braced by five slip-formed concrete cores. A total of 30 000sqm of steel was used in the structure.
All installations were included in our package; E-, W-, lift-and facade maintenance. The technical installation was subcontracted out. The technical installation involved the development of the system design, the preparation work and finally erecting, testing and commissioning.
Visser & Smit Bouw was in addition to the construction also responsible for more than 30 000sqm of fit-out. The full fit-out package included the ICT 'Cabling & Housing infrastructure' and the fixtures and fittings such as interior walls, (computer) floors, floor finishes, canteen and kitchen, office furniture etc. For the implementation of the works we used Achmea Preferred Suppliers. In total, the project delivered 2000 new workplaces .
