The Department of Rehabilitation, Nursing science and Sport has been re-accommodated in the former W building. The project involved expanding the building from three to seven storeys.
The new building W is connected to building B at first floor level by a walkway bridge. The new accommodation consists of the following parts:
Ground floor: equipped with swimming pool, exercise rooms and additional activities. To allow for the pool and equipment the ground floor is also partly basement.
First floor ('patient's floor'): the treatment rooms and link to the next door building . This floor is also the UMC entrance level and has an outpatient function.
Second floor ('office floor'): offices were organised around Het Nieuwe Werken principles (activity orientated).
The project was delivered by MedicomZes (a trading name of Visser & Smit Bouw bv).
