SRT Schoonebeek

This project involved the construction of a 22km insulated 8" oil pipeline between the oil treatment plant at Schoonebeek and the BP refinery in Lingen (Germany).

The project

The works involved all infrastructure and civil engineering work related to the new oil field at Schoonebeekse. The project took five years in which various buildings and infrastructure projects were carried out. Due to the oil pipeline running through both the Netherlands and Germany, it had to be designed and constructed according to the laws and regulations of both countries.

The project was located in a logistically difficult area and was divided over eighteen locations on the outskirts of Schoonebeek. There were also fourteen locations in the 'Twente' region. The central heat & power factory and the Central Treatment Facility were built to the north of Schoonebeek on the old NAM complex.

This is the largest onshore oil extraction project in Western Europe.

The work consisted of the complete design of eighteen well sites for pumping stations and the establishment of a site for steam generation and oil treatment.
